(Smith and Wesson picked the license up in 1999). The best (and only) way to tell when a pistol was made is by reference to the serial number. Interarms is gone, but they were working under a production license from Walther, and records of that data have to still exist "somewhere." The Interarms / Walther TPH in 22lr usually go for around $450+ that I've seen. Sometimes you can get the box and papers with them in the upper price ranges. The German Walther made ones are normally twice the price, or more if the seller knows what he has. The TPH in 22 are neat little pistols but the 2 I had were jamm-a-matics.

When the manual safety is disengaged, Smith & Wesson's Product Engineering Group has determined that the possibility exists in certain firearms that lowering the hammer may cause a chambered round to fire.
