A good mineral lick will help bucks recover from the rut and over time will help your bucks with antler growth. Be wary of some mass produced minerals that mostly contain salt. We recommend placing Trophy Rock on a stump or another flat rock keeping it up off the ground. It will last much longer in the field if you avoid mud puddles. We have also found deer to be much more relaxed at mineral sites when Trophy Rock is elevated so they can lick on it in less of a defensive posture.

The formulation is pretty much the same and both are made by the same company, United Salt Corporation. On my farm, we can't put out enough Ranch House salt to keep up with demand.

Trophy rocks have worked well everywhere I have put them. On the other hand, cattle mineral blocks (red TSC) are not touched in some of my spots, and destroyed in others. Homebrew mineral sites have been the poorest performers of the 3, and are a bit of a pain to deal with.

Posted March 9, 2010. What you need is 1- 50lb bag of fine stock salt. 1- 50lb bag of trace mineral salt. 1- 50lb bag of dicalcium phosphate. You will need to mix 1 part salt, 2 parts trace mineral, and 1 part di-cal phosphate. 200 lbs of mixture for around $35.00. I just put mine out two days ago. Hope this helps!
